Funny kids

Posted by Colleen

This must be a record for me, posting two nights in a row. I just had to add a quick note because Ben said something really funny this evening. He was saying the blessing on the food and here was about how it went:
Ben: "Heavenly Father, we are thankful ... What are we thankful for?"
Jared: "The hamburgers"
Ben: "We are thankful for the hamburgers ... We ask to bless ... What do we bless?"
Jared: "The food"
Ben: "Bless the food ... but the food is not dead!"

I busted up laughing, but Jared couldn't figure out what was so funny.

It was also his turn to say family prayers and afterwards he said "Grandpa and Grandma Bartlett died". He had blessed him in the prayer, so I suppose he must think that whatever you bless is dead. What a silly kid!

Tired

I have been super tired lately, so I am sorry we haven't updated our blog very much. Work is keeping me really busy. It is so difficult to juggle two kids and a job. You want to spend as much time with your kids, yet you have a mortgage payment, utility bills, house repairs and projects, and all those other expensive things. So you have to bring in some money somehow.

We have been thinking lately of having me just be a contract developer or finding something that I can do with less hours but the same amount of pay. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I program websites currently, but would be open to other opportunities in programming or something totally different that I can do while spending as much time as I can with my kids. (I already tried the Mary Kay thing, so I refuse to do any kind of selling)

We really haven't been doing anything exciting lately. Jared had is birthday on Monday and it was nice to go out to dinner at Braza Grill without the kids. He used a gift card to buy the Simpsons game for his birthday, too. It is pretty fun. Homer turns into this big blob and rolls over people.

Best of State

The company I work for won a Best of State award, so Jared and I got to go to the Gala this last Saturday. I think Jared was bored (My first clue was that he pulled out his phone). It was really good food and fun to get dressed up to go out for once. Now that we have two kids, we get very few chances to go out. There was this one high school aged jazz band that was way good, though.

On other notes, we finished our deck. Here are the before and after photos:

We also had a wedding in the family. Jared's sister Holly wed John. Here are the kids in their cute outfits:
