So last month we volunteered our house for newlywed/young married FHE in our ward. Little did I know how much work it was going to be! Of course I put all of the work off until the day of (cleaning the house, painting a picnic table so we could eat outside, and sweeping leaves that have been collecting on my patio since last fall). It also just had to be the day that my neighbor co-op'd at preschool so I had her two kids in addition to my two kids while I tried to do all of this. And to top it all off, Lydia was such clutz today! She fell down and skinned her knee, tried to squeeze between the tiller and the car and got a long scratch on her leg (thankfully it wasn't deep), and fell down the last couple steps on my deck and scratched her head on the cement (that was the scariest, but she seems to be ok).
All the work paid off, though. Everyone seemed to enjoy the dinner and games and we got to know each other a little more, which seems to be a big problem in our ward with the younger couples.
Anyway, that is my rant, thanks for reading.
